Wofford College Students started this petition to Wofford College Administration

Wofford College and its leadership have consistently failed to inform its students, have changed its plans, have spoken indirectly, and have now failed to show concern for its students’ mental health.

While students understand that because we are in a pandemic, nothing will be perfect and things will necessarily change, we are still receiving the bare minimum from campus leadership.

The academic calendar for the spring semester has been altered to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on campus and now does not include a spring break during the actual spring semester. Instead, the break is after 14 straight weeks of instruction. To help with stress, they have included "Wellness Days": 4 (now 3) days throughout the semester intended to help students take a much-needed break. However, Wofford has failed its students once again. The "Wellness Days" are not mandatory and are completely optional for professors to implement.

This petition follows Wofford's first "Wellness day" of the spring semester, during which many students had multiple exams, papers, and classes to attend when they were meant to be taking care of themselves, spending time relaxing, and taking their "much-needed break".

For an institution that preaches its student's mental wealth, its administration is not aiding its students in the best way they can. The next 3 "Wellness Days" should be made mandatory in order to practice what they preach so adamantly, even if that means an additional adjustment of the scholastic calendar.
