Petition Update

THE FIGHT OVER THE CMS CUTS CONTINUES, BUT THE FOCUS HAS CHANGED

National Kidney Foundation

Sep 14, 2013 —  The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Management Services is proposing a 9.4% cut to Medicare Dialysis patients amounting to $970M worth of cuts. This will affect dialysis patients everywhere as clinics may close, we could lose services, education, meds, personnel and the quality of dialysis services could decline. This hurts all dialysis patients. The CMS has only given us until Aug 30th to object or by Jan 1, 2014, these cuts become the law of the land. This is despite the fact that MediPAC and the NKF have recommended no cuts to services because the Bundling of Medicare payments to dialysis and the Sequester had cut payments by 4% already. Please write your Congressperson, your Senators, sign a form letter, a petition and let them know that cuts to life saving dialysis and compromised patients who cannot fight back are not acceptable. This is the appropriate move because the shift of the fight has moved from objecting
