WITHDRAW APPEAL: Parks, Rec and Library Bond Referendum case 2016-CP-18-1975
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
This petition is to show citizen support of the 2016 Dorchester County "Quality of Life" Referendum. This Referendum passed by a 61% yes vote in 2016. The Lawsuit filed by Mike Rose and Andy Gowder representing "Dorchester County Taxpayers Association" and "South Carolina Public Interest Foundation and 5 individuals is anything but "friendly". The lawsuit has stopped the construction and improvements of Libraries and Parks in Dorchester County.
We, the citizens of Dorchester County would like to see the parks and libraries we voted on be used by our children. Lower Dorchester County is awaiting it's beautiful Ashley River Park. Upper Dorchester County is awaiting it's long needed Courthouse park.
This petition began in Upper Dorchester County where we currently do not have any Dorchester County Parks. The children that play sports in Upper Dorchester County are directly affected by this referendum being put on hold again. More than 400 children and some 30 teams currently share the ONE regulation youth field located in St George. This means that children as young as 6 are playing baseball until after 9 PM on weekdays if they want to play baseball.
Citizens of Dorchester County should be using the Parks and Libraries that they have voted on. The New "Court House" Park has been a long awaited dream of Upper Dorchester County.
We, citizens of Dorchester County, URGE those in opposition to drop the lawsuit immediately.
Our Community voted for Parks and Libraries and WE STAND BY OUR VOTE.
