Many people collecting Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) are still able to work in some capacity. Although they might not be able to work full time, they are still working to pay their bills and be productive citizens. It is their right, under the constitution, to be able to collect money on a federally funded program such as Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).

People with disabilities who work and earn money are also paying taxes. Currently they are being denied unemployment compensation on the basis of collecting SSDI. In order to qualify for SSDI, an individual needs medical documentation from a doctor agreeing that the individual is in fact disabled. This means that ultimately denying individuals on the basis of collecting SSDI is simply denying them because they're disabled. This is considered discrimination.

According to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), "The ADA prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, government programs and services, and privately owned places of accommodation."

Additionally, the SSA (Social Security Administration) encourages SSDI beneficiaries to work. SSDI income is only mean to supplement income. A monthly payment is barely enough to cover rent payments, let alone food, medications, medical equipment etc.

Please consider signing this petition to put a stop to the discrimination that is being imposed on people with disabilities.
