Stop using Greasby Infant School as a Polling Station

As a parent of 2 children at Greasby Infant School I find it incredulous and extremely hypocritical that the school should be forced to close to be used as a Polling Station, particularly at a time when we are constantly reminded in the media, by the school and the local authority of the consequences of us taking our children out of school during term time. Because of this decision, this term our school is being forced to be closed not once but twice within a 5 week window. Not only is this a shorter term with bank holidays, it also falls during SATs for year 2 children. As a self employed parent of 2 children at the Infant School, this affects my not only my income but also my reputation in having to rearrange/cancel work or the cost of having to pay for 2 children to be looked after over 2 dates AND makes a complete mockery to being told we cannot take our children out of school for holidays. In addition to affecting families and carers at the infant school it also has a knock on effect to the children at Greasby Junior School who have siblings at the Infant School and staff working across these schools. In Greasby village there are numerous buildings that could be used as Polling Stations including a community centre, a library (which is closed part of the week), an unused children's centre, and 4 churches along with other under utilised buildings. I am starting this petition to ask the people of Greasby to support me in requesting that the school is not to be used as a Polling Station to prevent necessary disruption to the children and their families/carers and to stop the hypocrisy of our children being forced to be out of school during term time. Thank you in advance. Janine xx
