Eastham's Green Belt Under Threat - Act Now!

A planning application has been submitted to Wirral Council by Anselmians Rugby Club to redevelop their land in Eastham Village. They are seeking permission to build 21 houses, a new clubhouse/youth club, a 150 place car/coach park, reposition their flood lights, alter the layout of their rugby pitches and erect ball catchment fencing. A new road is proposed off Eastham Village Road for the houses and a new entrance will be made to the clubhouse and coach/car park.
The land in question lies both in the Green Belt and within the specially protected Eastham Viillage Conservation Area which has been in force since 1974.
The Government’s position on development in the Green Belt is quite clear. Permission will not be granted unless the developer can show ‘very special circumstances’.
Councillor Phil Davies, leader of Wirral Council stated on the 27th February this year in a report to cabinet on Wirral’s Core Strategy Local Plan, “This administration is committed to not building on Wirral’s Green Belt.”
Eastham is a beautiful medieval village, one of the oldest in Wirral. Residents have all abided by the special conditions that apply to any development within the Conservation Area as well as the protection for trees also enshrined in the legislation - and we expect others to do the same.
Eastham Village Preservation Association will oppose this application and will fight it tooth and nail, but we need your help. If you are as determined as we are, that this application shall not succeed and that the ancient character of Eastham Village shall remain protected then please sign this petition.
You can also write or email the planning office with your objection, quoting planning application:APP/17/00179.
