Wirral Unison disagrees with the restructure proposals Wirral Evolutions are currently consulting on, to change the way their Day Services are delivered.

We believe these cuts as formulated will fundamentally change the jobs of many care workers and leave many facing substantial pay cuts and/or reduction in hours. The proposals will also  impact upon the amount of care and support available to people, and will close a number of services (Highcroft, Cambridge Rd and Best Bites-Willowbank) without any adequate alternative provision being clearly identified. We are concerned that the result, if the proposals are implemented will be a detrimental impact upon the outcome for the people with disabilities who use these services, and hardship for care workers..

We therefore support Wirral Unison’s call for: Wirral Council to bring this service back ‘in house’, withdraw the current proposals and, work with the parents/ carers, people who use the service and staff/unions, to develop a service that will truly meet the needs of people.
