Say NO to a Three Storey Development on the former Girtrell Court Site

Alpha Living has today submitted a planning application to build a three-storey Extra Care development comprising of 78 one and two bed apartments and 195m2 office space, facing Girtrell Court and Woodpecker Close. There will be provision for 59no. Car parking spaces to the east of the site, and landscaped areas to the south. Planning application number: APP/18/01002

This site has for many many years housed a single storey building providing care and respite to individuals with profound learning and physical disabilities.  The building also accommodated office space for Council employees.

The area in and around Woodpecker Close is made up of single storey sheltered bungalows and owner occupier detached and semi-detached bungalows, two storey semi and detached houses etc.  For absolute clarity there is absolutely nothing remotely resembling a three storey structure within view of this proposal, so a proposal for a three storey building of this size can only be described as a blot on the landscape and totally out of keeping with the existing streetscene.

If allowed this application by reason of its size, depth, width, height and massing would have an unacceptably adverse impact on the amenities of the properties immediately adjacent to the site and the surrounding area by reason of overlooking, loss of privacy and visually overbearing impact.

Should you wish to object to the application you can do so by emailing the Planning Officer, Joanne Storey, email: or write to her at: Wirral Council, Planning Department, Town Hall, South Annexe, Brighton Street, Wallasey CH44 8ED Please ensure you quote reference APP/18/01002 with all correspondence.
