We, the undersigned, urge Winnipeg music venues and patrons to critically examine their role in creating, facilitating and participating in safe spaces. We believe it is essential public spaces amplify marginalized voices and ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable community members. We are asking for survivor/women/non-binary/trans/poc/Indigenous/queer/persons with disabilities-led action to create a culture of inclusivity and safety for all.

These are our recommendations:

-Safe space training updated annually with feedback/accountability report
-Equitable booking policy where there is at least one person of colour and one woman/non-binary/trans person on each bill
-Security trained in de-escalation at all events
-Personnel on standby at all events to provide emotional support/report instances of abuse/discomfort/unsafety to
--Transparency with regards to collective members/venue staff so patrons know whose space they are entering/endorsing
-Confidentiality regarding all complaints to protect complainants identity
-A public statement outlining your venue's expected timeline for enacting the above

Please sign in solidarity with abuse survivors and allies.
