Demand accessibility at Cedars of Chili: Keep ramps, handicap parking and walkways clear.

The handicap parking spaces are almost always inaccessible. During the Winter, handicap spaces are inaccessible after a snowfall. So are the wheelchair ramps, walkways, by mailboxes and dumpster areas. During nights and weekends, people who are not handicapped and have no tags, park in designated handicap parking spaces.
The police cannot help because it's private property. The property owners and rental manager say to call the after hours number for assistance, but they have never been able to help and the last 2 times they never answered the phones after trying several times. They say they cannot have assigned parking either. I've been sleeping in my car, at friend's homes and with family. So have others because we cannot access our apartments.
Maintenance takes a long time to shovel and salt after snowing. Once I was trapped and couldn't exit my front door during an emergency. My daughter and I had to jump out the kitchen window. Numerous injuries have happened to myself, my daughter and other tenants. A few days after a significant snowfall, they'll send out flyers saying to move your vehicle(s) at a specified time so they can plow the roads and parking areas. If you can't get out at that time, you WILL BE TOWED at your expense. Many handicapped tenants cannot move their cars out because they're buried, don't have the equipment, impossible for them to do the labor, etc. They have to either pay for towing and find a way to get to where it was towed to, pay someone to help or hope a volunteer will come along to help. Once they do plow, the spaces are still snow covered and icy. No salt is put down in the parking spaces. Snow removal is in the lease and this is unacceptable! There should be assigned handicap parking. There are not enough spaces to park elsewhere.
