Jonathan Jekeli started this petition to Winding Creek HOA

Currently, Winding Creek HOA does not allow solar panels in the community. In order to change this rule, they require 75% of the neighborhood to agree to change it.

We believe solar panels would be a net benefit to the community for two main reasons; home value and environmental sustainability.

First, solar panels are a proven way to increase home value. A Berkeley labs study found that home buyers are willing to pay $15000 more for homes with an average size home solar array (https://emp.lbl.gov/publications/exploring-california-pv-home-premiums Other studies have found that “Home value increases of about $20 for every dollar saved on annual energy costs" (https://www.solarreviews.com/blog/do-solar-panels-increase-home-value#increase-property-value So not only will you save money while you are currently in the home, you will earn twenty-fold whenever you choose to move out.

In terms of environment sustainability, we can help create a neighborhood that can sustain itself with minimal carbon footprint. It reduces water usage that would normally be used to cool generators, reduces air pollution from burning coal or gas, and helps to slow climate change.

Whether or not you personally want solar panels, please consider allowing those who want to pay for it the ability to add solar panels to their own homes.
