WE ARE IN AN EMERGENCY. ACT WITH URGENCY
PETITION TO WILTSHIRE COUNCIL: TELL US WHAT YOU ARE DOING

We are asking Wiltshire Council to move faster in producing, publicising and implementing their plans for a carbon-free future.  Every day we waste increases the costs and the disruption to our lives.  The costs of not acting with urgency are just too high.

These are our demands:

(i)  We want the climate and ecological emergency to be at the heart of every decision and on every agenda item.

(ii)  We want all planned and proposed schemes (housing, roads, energy, etc) to be reviewed and only implemented if they meet the net zero criteria, otherwise amended or cancelled.

(iii)  We want better public transport systems to enable us to move away from car-centric living.

(iv)  In the face of government inertia, we want the council to take a lead in educating themselves and us (Wiltshire residents) so that everyone understands the gravity of what we are facing.

(v)  We want the council to retrofit ALL its properties as fast as possible to be carbon neutral and assist us to find the best ways to reduce our own carbon footprint (especially housing).

(vi)  We want the council to cancel any support of any kind in the fossil fuel industry (including investments and fund management).

Show your support and add your name to the petition to support the demands of the new Wiltshire Climate Alliance, representing many concerned environmental groups in Wiltshire. We will deliver it to Wiltshire Council at their Full Council Meeting on the 25th February (1 year anniversary of their climate emergency declaration).  Better still come to the Wilts Climate Action yourselves!
