A Petition Calling on Wilsonville City Council to Pass An Inclusivity Resolution

This petition, by residents of Wilsonville, calls on members of the Wilsonville City Council to pass an Inclusivity Resolution, that declares the City of Wilsonville (City) as a City of Inclusivity with respect to immigrants and refugees and directs the use of City resources to that end. Passing a resolution: 1) is a positive way to show our City's values of inclusion, equality, and respect for all residents that call our City home; 2) clarifies and makes public the City's policy when it comes to interacting with immigration enforcement; 3) strengthens the state law by showing that other cities and counties support it;and 4) Inclusivity policies preserve local resources for local priorities, rather than volunteering assistance in immigration enforcement.
Immigrants and Refugees of all nations have contributed to the health, well-being, and general welfare of the City as families and neighbors. The inclusion and integration of all residents of the City is a vital concern for the general welfare of the City in all respects. Every City resident should be treated with compassion and respect regardless of national origin or citizenship status. We the undersigned, urge the city council to pass an inclusivity resolution that embraces, celebrates, and welcomes its immigrant and refugee residents and their contributions, and prohibits the use of city funds, personnel, or equipment for the enforcement of federal immigration law.
The below residents further consent that their electronic signature can be treated as an original for the purposes of this petition.
