Sad Boy started this petition to Willoughby-Eastlake school board of education

The failure of the levy has had a great impact on students in the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools district. These include getting rid of extra curricular classes, middle school and freshman sports, teachers, in-school police officers, and much more. People voted to not pass this Levy, probably not understanding they will affect all students more than themselves. These effects are unfair and shouldn’t be put upon us students. Something has to be done, students have a voice too.

Eliminating these activities will put students at a disadvantage. First off, elimination of sports will most likely show a decrease in most athlete’s grades simply because there's no motivation to try to keep them up. This is because athletes are encouraged by sports to do better in school. Sports also encourages student’s attendance in school and behavior during the day. Therefor, elimination of sports will not be of any help. Next, elimination of extra curricular classes isn’t good either. This being it limits the amount of classes a student can take, which will limit creative skills students may build. Probably the biggest impact this will have on students future is collage. Collages seek diversity and well roundment in students. So taking away curriculums will ultimately lead to a disadvantage in student’s applications to colleges. Lastly, elimination of police officers is one of the very worst ideas. Officers build relationships with students to deter future problems the students may have. You can take a lot away from the student body, but taking away their right to feel safe when coming to school is just unacceptable. There have also been threats going around a lot lately. Not just in the district, but in general. Once they’re gone, our schools will be very vulnerable.

One final thing to take into consideration is the outlook our schools will have now. With this levy not passing, our school’s ratings will drop and it's very likely that students will have the desire to transfer and we won’t have any students  want to come to our schools because of the ratings. So basically it puts us at a disadvantage all together.

In conclusion, this levy has had a major impact on all citizens, adults and children, of Willoughby-Eastlake city schools. So please remember you, the voter, holds the kid’s future in your hands with your vote, please choose wisely.
