Stop turning away hungry kids that have no money for lunch

Due to school budget cuts in the state of New Jersey the Willingboro school district has started turning children away when it is discovered their school lunch account has only $5.00 remaining. If the child goes through the lunch line and does not have money for their food, the staff has been instructed to throw the child's meal in the trash.

For many children this is their one meal for the day. We as a country have hit a low point when we allow our children to go hungry while they watch their classmates eat, and especially when we allow food to be thrown in the trash versus being eaten by a hungry child. If parents are sending their children to school with no food and no money the situation should be handled with the parent, but it's not right to punish the child for the parents negligence.

Please sign this petition today to let the Willingboro school district know that we as a nation do not stand by this decision and we demand these children be fed.
