Sequoia School in Santa Clarita, CA  is being taken from its own private campus and dissolved into the large comprehensive campus of Castaic High School. These kids are exceedingly bright but need something that a comprehensive campus cannot give; the social-emotional component that is layered into the academics at Sequoia in conjunction with the confidentiality of ERICS therapy. They are not at Sequoia because they are learning deficient, they are there because of severe emotional issues and socialization challenges and a traditional comprehensive campus does not work for this group.  Some have suicidal ideation, some self-harm, others are on the spectrum, each has emotional struggles. They are at Sequoia because they need Sequoia with its small embracing environment, caring staff, administrators, teachers, ERICS therapists, and peers. The kids thrive in the small community which Sequoia offers. They are learning to overcome their emotional obstacles so that they can be successful in the world because they first learn to feel secure with themselves emotionally. They are the Sequoia Samurai, the Sequoia warriors. 

It is the duty of the district to give all of its students the best chance for a good education, including the students of Sequoia Charter School.  Let’s take back our school by bringing Sequioa back its own home!
