Providing an equal education for virtually learning students through Covid-19 pandemic.

Providing an equal education for virtually learning students through Covid-19 pandemic.
Why this petition matters
The William Floyd School District has left their community out in the dark with regards to hiring outside teachers to continue instructing their virtually learning students throughout Phase 2 of their Covid-19 educational proposal. The district has not made any official announcements with regards to hiring new, outside teachers to replace current teachers for students who continue to learn virtually. Parents have been given very short notice by their children’s teachers that this is happening. Phase 2 is projected to begin Monday, Nov 9th.
WF school district has failed to answer any questions regarding their new proposal and their reasoning behind this plan. THE DISTRICT IS PULLING AWAY THE ONLY STABLE PART OF EDUCATION FOR VIRTUALLY LEARNING STUDENTS. These children have formed relationships with their teachers and classmates for the last 3 months and now are being removed from all. Virtually learning students could now be sitting in a zoom class with up to 30 children. These circumstances are not providing a fair and equal educational opportunity for those who are learning at home. These children are merely being punished for a decision their parents have made to not yet send them back to school in fear of possible Covid cases rising and spreading.
The WF school district is trying to force students to come back to school in hopes of staying with their current teachers. They are providing a disservice for those who continue to learn virtually. This is completely unacceptable and we, as parents, want change. Our children deserve to continue with their current teachers and classmates for the remainder of the school year, just as those learning within the classroom. They deserve to learn from their teachers, with whom they have bonded with for the last 3 months. They deserve a full education from their current teachers. These decisions that have not yet been announced by the district, will affect the social-emotional well being and mental health of those children who continue to learn at home. Our children deserve a fair, equal opportunity education!
Questions regarding how social distancing will be maintained with more children entering back into the elementary schools have been left unanswered. Clear dividers will not replace the fact that a healthy proximity is 6 feet. These safety measures are merely impossible to attain if more children return back to school in hopes of remaining with their current teachers. How is the safety of our children going to be established? WF school district has failed to answer any questions pertaining to this matter as well.
Parents want answers. Our children need stability during this most uncertain time. WF school district has failed to provide any stability within their upcoming projected Phase 2 plans.
