Devon County Council wants to stop funding School Crossing Patrols, and to force schools to pay for them if they want them. This is unfair and unworkable - schools do not have the resources to pay for these services, and their focus should be on educating children at school, not on getting children to school safely. That is what we pay the County Council to do. They say they will save £250,000 a year by cutting the service - 0.05% of their annual budget - and that it's not part of their 'statutory' responsibility. Barnstaple Town Council thinks it's penny-pinching that will potentially put our community's children at risk. Sign this petition and tell the County Council that our children are our future, and they should be the last to be hit by the cuts.
