As of August 1, 2022, the elevators at the Wilkinson Rental in Vancouver have been out of operation for over five (5) days. Throughout this time, Vancouver has been experiencing a heat wave, and residents have been required to utilize a non-airconditioned stairwell as their only means to enter and exit their rental units. Using the stairs as the only means to gain access to one's unit is an inconvenience and a serious health and safety matter. Individuals with children, pets, limited mobility and health concerns may be unable to gain access to their homes. Furthermore, deliveries such as medical prescriptions, groceries and more are unavailable to those in need. 

Management needs to recognize that having non-operational elevators is not only an inconvenience but also breaks several health and safety laws in addition to the tenancy agreement. The property management group has failed to provide proper information to the tenants, including a contact number for emergent events. 

This petition raises awareness of these violations and requests better communication and an understanding of how the Wilkinson management and the Cressey development will resolve this issue and what form of compensation will be provided to the Wilkinson tenants.
