National Society for the Advancement of Black Americans started this petition to WILKES-BARRE AREA SCHOOL BOARD Board of Education

Meyers High School will be closing this year as part of the Wilkes-Barre Area high school consolidation. The NSABA, a 501c3 charity, has submitted a proposal to the Wilkes-Barre Area School District to acquire the Meyers High School building to be used as an education, art, and athletic center for the benefit of the greater Wilkes-Barre area community. We are prepared to work with the community to raise the necessary funds to restore the Meyers building, make needed improvements, and offer educational and other programs that will benefit all of our children and the community.

The NSABA was founded by Paul K. Lott, Sr., a Meyers High School graduate. The NSABA focuses on programs that support and extend the capability of existing public school systems. Summer learning, weekend learning, and specialized training are all offered to supplement core learning that supports public school learning.  By improving public education, we can reach the greatest number of disadvantaged students.

Public support is crucial to our success. By signing this petition, you are letting the Wilkes-Barre Area School District know that you support our efforts of keeping Meyers as an education center.
