Sophia A. started this petition to Wilfrid Laurier University and

In the Fall of 2021, Wilfrid Laurier University announced several COVID-19 protocol updates intended to protect the health and safety of their students and faculty. The disturbing feature about these protocols is that rather than protecting and serving all students who attend their institution, Laurier is forcing students to show proof of vaccination to attend classes in person. Thus, instead of serving and protecting all their students, Laurier has created a segregated environment that views one group as superior and another as inferior. Mandatory vaccination may not be a serious issue to some, but this mandate takes away our freedom of choice as members of society.

I want to make it clear that the aim of this petition is not to push an anti-vaccination agenda or disrespect individuals who have chosen to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Instead, this petition is intended to give students who want a choice a platform to exercise their voice. Students may have various reasons not to get vaccinated, such as medical, religious, or personal. For these reasons, it is unjustified to force students to receive a medical injection to continue their post-secondary education.

If you feel as though post-secondary students should have a choice when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine, please support our petition.
