Soren reinstated on the IT team
At Wildlands school there are many unique aspects. One of them being student jobs. Each year every student in the high school must apply for a school job. To get a school job, students must complete an application, resume, cover letter, and go through a job interview with staff members and professionals in the surrounding area.
Last year our IT manager was a senior and it was their responsibility to train Soren and get him ready to tackle IT in the coming year. Soren then applied for the IT manager position and got it. Months went by with Soren pouring his heart into IT and even taking an IT program at CVTC. Soren spent weeks trying to get the school's technology up to date.
Even with Soren working endlessly on many complicated technology tasks no one at our school could even come close to understanding our technology still isn't up to date and we have many miscellaneous broken items which can only be fixed by someone with a specific skill set. Soren is the only person in our school with this specific skill set.
One day Soren made a decision he wish he could take back. It seemed a student had intentionally hit another with a door. The student that was hit with the door is part of the LGBTQ+ community. The student that hit the person with the door has a history of saying offensive comments towards the LGBTQ+ community but has since realized their mistakes. In retaliation to the door incident, Soren decided to take the RAM out of the student's laptop with the intention of giving it back the next day.
Unfortunately, some unforeseen circumstances made Soren skip a couple of days of school so the student was unable to get the RAM back until Soren returned. In the meantime, the student borrowed a different laptop from the school. Later when the teachers found out about the incident they removed Soren from the IT team and appointed a different IT manager. That IT manager later left the school and now we have an IT manager that hasn't had the proper training so crucial technical aspects of our school is lacking.
Soren has since apologized for his actions and is on good terms with the student whose RAM was taken. Since Soren's removal from the IT team members of the Wildlands staff have asked him to do various IT-related jobs since our new IT team is not trained properly.
Taking into consideration that Wildlands school can't function without the right technology, the lack of technological experience in our school, the dedication and work Soren has put into IT, and Soren taking accountability for his actions and resolving conflict he has more than earned his place as the Wildlands IT manager.
