Cassie L started this petition to @WICSABC20 and

We would like News Channel 20 WICS / Sinclair Broadcasting to STOP using the term "CODE RED". It is used for if it will rain somewhere, if the wind blows more than 5mph, if a cloud is in the sky, if a Tornado is coming, it's a CODE RED day. It has gotten to the point businesses make fun of CODE RED on their outdoor signs. CODE RED should be used if there is a Thunderstorm WARNING, Tornado WARNING, Snowstorm WARNING, Blizzard WARNING, etc. Other weather outlets have a color code system that lets people know if bad weather is coming and how sever it could be. CODE RED has been used so much that NO ONE pays attention any longer. It's exactly like crying wolf too many times. I bet most of Springfield, IL at this point pays 0% interest when the phrase CODE RED is used, which is scary because a lot of schools and business use that phrase when something bad is happening at there location (i.e...shootings).

Joe Crain delivered a nice speech about how he feels about CODE RED and how ridiculous it is, but since it is a corporate rule and he has bills to pay & a family to feed, he has to do what they want and use the terms they request. He encouraged people to write & call in to give feed back on how you feel about CODE RED. And surprise, by the next day, Joe Crain was off the WICS News Channel 20 website and advertisements. He may have already been on the way out and he decided to go out with a bang or this may have been the reason he was let go (we may never know), but he was the last good thing about WICS. I know myself and a  large number or people will NOT be viewing you on WICS or WRSP TV. I'm sure Joe Crain doesn't want his job back, since who wants to work for people that would silence a NEWS REPORTER who has an opinion (shocker).

OK, back to the topic at hand. WICS News Channel 20/Sinclair Broadcasting, please STOP using CODE RED. Find more relevant weather alert terms to use than a blanket term like CODE RED!!!

(I apologize for any grammer or spelling errors on this petition...I am pissed off & in a hurry)
