Boycott Texas started this petition to Whole Foods and

The “Texas Heartbeat Act,” otherwise known as HB 1515 and SB8, violates the Constitutional right to make reproductive decisions regarding health, life and safety. This right has been guaranteed by the Supreme Court and protected for the past 48 years by federal law. This new Texas law subverts these human rights by using radical activists who threaten violence and abuse as the ‘enforcers’ of this law. It places a bounty on the heads of all who attempt to exercise their Constitutional right to ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’

Since Whole Foods is headquartered in Texas, we the undersigned call on Whole Foods to speak up in opposition to this egregious abuse of power. Your customers deserve your support on this, their basic right to autonomy over their bodies. We ask your CEO, John Mackey, to:

1.  Make a public statement denouncing this bill and voicing your support for the Constitutionally guaranteed right to make health decisions for themselves.

2.  Create a legal defense fund for all Whole Foods employees who are subjected to a lawsuit by these radical activists who threaten these basic human rights.

3.  Whole Foods as a company makes a commitment to support politicians who stand for the protection of these rights, and to refuse to donate to the campaign of any politician who wrote, supported, or signed this bill into law.

4.  Make a considerable donation to organizations that are legally challenging this law’s Constitutionality.

Your support for your customers is vital to their well being. You have an opportunity to take a public stand in the defense of our legal rights, our health and safety, our autonomy and our freedom.  People nationwide will be looking for these concrete actions to show your support for your customers. Without them, we will be forced to suspend our support of your company nationwide.  The overwhelming majority of citizens in this country are vehemently opposed to this law as an infringement of our human rights and our Constitutional protections guaranteed by law. We are willing to do business with companies who value those rights, but we are not willing to support companies who provide financial support to the systems or politicians who deny us our rights.

Whole Foods needs to take this opportunity to be a corporate and community leader on the basic human rights by opposing this law with the full force of its financial and public actions. We, the undersigned, demand nothing less.
