Here is my half an hour rant

Would Venus flytraps be producers, consumers or both? Because all plants are producers because of photosynthesis and shit but they also eat insects to survive which would make them consumers Would Venus flytraps be omnivores, carnivores or just neither? Because they would also get nutrition from the soil and the insects which would make them omnivores, but the soil doesn’t count as a plant which would just mean that they’re carnivores but they aren’t animals and are instead plants so can it even be a carnivore in the first place? Venus fly traps are weird af and makes all the information in the last term of science useless to me. Like wtf are they even plants at this point? I think we should just burn Venus flytraps and make them go extinct, They aren’t worth existing they hurt my brain to much. WHAT THE FUCK I SEARCHED IT UP AND THEY ARE PRODUCERS AND CARNIVORES! I’m going to do research on these bitches and see if they are technically animals. The criteria for something to be an animal is it being multicellular, capable of locomotion and responsive to their environment, and feed by consuming other organisms. Alright well it’s obvious that Venus flytraps are multicellular so that’s 1/4. Next, it says they have to have locomotion which means movement or the ability to move from one place to another.

Eg. the muscles that are concerned with locomotion which also apply to Venus Flytraps since they are able to move which would make it 2/4. Next they are responsive to true or environment because of their ability to sense when something lands inside of them which will touch small hairs inside of the plant which will cause the RESPONSE which would make the Venus flytrap close, making it responsive so that is 3/4. Finally they feed of other organisms because of how they catch insects which go inside of their mouth and then they dissolve their body and they eat it. So if you use the Oxford definition of how something is an animal then technically Venus flytraps are an animal. The only problem is that Venus flytraps have cell walls and animals don’t which is something that would make a Venus flytrap not an animal. But something that you to take on to account with that is that scientist have also made exceptions for things like this, as a criteria for being a mammal is to grow babies inside of a womb instead of laying eggs which would mean platypus would not be a mammal, yet they still are because they don’t fit properly in to other any group so they closest one is mammal so that is how they are classified. This is the same situation with Venus flytraps because they have a lot of differences to a regular plant but they also have a few differences to animals which would mean that they don’t fit fully in to any group which would mean that they have to be put in to at least one of the groups sp technically Venus flytraps could of been classified as animals. Idgaf I’ve spent half an hour ranting about Venus flytraps because they don’t make sense.
