At Whitehill Nature School, Ballyshannon myself and the children want your help by signing this petition we could make Ballyshannon and Bundoran plastic STRAW-FREE!!

Living on the coast and along the Erne Estuary means we constantly see the impact of a throwaway attitude to plastic, both on our beaches and in our seas.

Finding plastic drinking straws during beach cleans is particularly frustrating because there alternative products are available.

Ireland is the top producer of plastic waste in the European Union, according to the latest Eurostat figures.

The statistics show that of Europe’s top five plastic waste offenders (calculated per capita), Ireland is top of the pile, producing 61 kilogrammes per person, per year!

Let's start local and make a change! In April myself and some of my nature explorers will be calling to all businesses, pubs, restaurants and coffee shops where the children will be speaking to the owners and managers to ask if they would consider going #strawfree or use an alternative option to plastic straws.
