The White Rock pier is closed to dogs. The issue is that those with animals can not enjoy Canada’s longest pier, a pearl of the West coast. I want to overturn this, allowing all to enjoy this architectural wonder, hands and paws alike. Reasons why include:

• Less dogs on the beach, where sea birds inhabit.
• Poo on the pier is less likely to go unnoticed and therefore social pressures will increase poo pickup by owners. This means less poo on the promenade as well.
• Capitalizing on a consistent walking demographic during the winter months, would increase spending at local businesses that already struggle during this time of year.
