Helen Thomas was a fearless, pioneering journalist and author who advanced women's rights, freedom of speech and of the press, government accountability and opposition to war. In her final years, she was unjustly villified for comments on Israel and Palestine and we believe she deserves the respect and appreciation of a nation for her seven decades of integrity and public service.
Helen Thomas was a trailblazing journalist, author and representative for accountability and transparency in Washington D.C. Helen questioned power, and made sure they were speaking the truth.
Helen Thomas is a woman whose life should be honored and recognized by a grateful nation. We ask that August 4th be designated nationally as "Helen Thomas Day."
