This petition enable local residents the opportunity to oppose the planning and development of Challow Park, Stockham Park field located on Challow Road, OX12 9RH, A417.

The area is already over developed and with an additional 200 more houses this will put pressure on local infrastructure.

East Challow Neighbouhood Plan highlights, through its housing need survey, does not require additional houses. This area is covered in its Landscape and Character Assessment. The village does not want to be joined to (absorbed by) Wantage or loose more green fields to development.  

Challow village has had over 230 new homes approved in the last just over 8 years, which has grown the village by nearly 40%. The other two developments have caused a rise in water table lower down the hill (with issues in our new cemetery), potential for flooding as a result. This will effect the amenity value of the area for leisure and walking, the Wilts and Berks canal is a wildlife corridor, and forms a green link to the wider countryside, and it will be adversely affected by closer development.
