Full Funding for Libraries in Wheatland County!!

We respectfully ask that Wheatland County REVERSE its decision to NO LONGER PROVIDE operational funding to the LIBRARIES in its county.
These libraries are deeply valued by tax-paying members of these communities. They provide a window to the world for children, adults, and seniors, who might otherwise not be able to travel to, or afford, these opportunities. They are often the heart of the community and the provider of social programming. Libraries develop early literacy and they are historically a foundational pillar of free, educated democratic societies!!!
A county that does not value literacy and community engagement, does a disservice to it’s members and is not attractive to new residents. The decision to cut this funding is shortsighted, and detrimental to our communities, and our democracy. It does not further council’s desire to further develop this county, and have thriving communities within it. It is a step in the wrong direction and a threat to the social fabric of our small communities.
We love our libraries! Please reverse this decision and restore the funding!
