Temporarily shutdown schools in Whatcom County, W
Why this petition matters
The COVID19 virus has infected, as of March 8, 136 individuals in WA alone. 19 people have died included in that number was a person in Snohomish County. This virus may have been spreading for weeks in the King County area. The confirmed number is 136, but our state has failed in testing people.
Although the virus mainly affects older men and women, that is no excuse to leave our children viable to contracting this illness. Multiple petitions already have signatures to close schools in Northern WA. I5 runs straight through Blaine WA for example. Making many local areas in a 30 mile radius potential tourist targets. Starbucks is a walk away from the border.
I have three kids enrolled. The oldest being 15 and the youngest 8. I don’t want them to get sick and spread it to their grand parents or elderly faculty in their schools. I already lost my own mother in King County from COVOD19. Don’t let this outbreak continue to strive.
We must act now in order to contain this virus before it spins out of control. Thank you for thinking about Whatcom County and it’s children.
