We are united in the strong sense that Westtown is, at its heart and in its mission, a Quaker boarding school. The boarding requirement makes possible the creation of an intentional community which nurtures the individual with love and belonging and produces a depth of lasting relationships not commonly found in our society anymore. We call on the Westtown School Board of Trustees to affirm its commitment to required boarding for all Westtown students in their junior and senior years. We believe that eliminating or reducing this requirement goes against the mission of the school and will cause irreparable harm to the essence of Westtown, distracting from the real work that we must all now do together to advance the school.
