To the Weston and Rothschild Village Board Members,

One of the highly pedestrian traveled roads connecting the DC Everest High School area to the Weston/Rothschild neighborhoods has no sidewalk and barely any shoulder to walk on. Along Alderson Street between Weston Avenue and Shorey Avenue is a portion of road traveled frequently by children getting to school, the pool, or other places in the Schofield area. It is utilized daily by runners, walkers, bikers and people with young children in strollers. It is heavily traveled and at the same time extremely unsafe. 

This road needs to have a sidewalk for the safety of all who utilize it, both the pedestrians and the drivers. All it takes is one driver on a phone, or someone not paying attention for a tragedy to happen that could have been prevented.

Providing safety for the children and people of our community would be a valuable use of our tax dollars and will provide a sense of security for parents, residents and all those traveling this section of road. 

Please accept this petition as our request for a sidewalk or bike path along this stretch of road. It is well overdue and can hopefully be granted soon. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
