Why this petition matters

Started by Jessica Zebrauskas

Hello neighbors, I am a concerned Oakwood resident and I am reaching out to those who might not know about Village of Westmont development plans

There is a development proposal being pitched to the Village of Westmont Board to approve a high density rental development consisting of more town homes and apartments at Cass Ave and 35th Street bordering the back side of the Oakwood Community.

This has the potential to bring more than 1,000 new residents to the area in small unit dwellings.  In a town of nearly 50% rental properties and already overburdened Elementary schools, these tightly packed units are not what is best for our community.   The percentage of rental units in Westmont is more than double all the surrounding communities and higher than both the state and national averages.

The development would also potentially create flooding issues by eliminating even more green space in our community.

Let your voice be heard and sign our petition to SAY NO TO DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR NEW TOWNHOMES AND APARTMENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY.  Or, send a message to the village of Westmont at villageboard@westmont.il.gov

Our Mayor Ron Gunter and the Village Board need to know Westmont does not support this.
