Erika Rummell-Romero started this petition to Western washington fairgrounds

If house bill 2824 is enforced, many Washington venues will be put out of business or have a very limited audience.

Places like Old McDebbie's Farm in Eatonville, WA- provides exotics for places such as Pierce County Fair)Josie Roo's in Parkland, The Reptile Man (a traveling gig) and the exotic animals at Western Washington Fairgrounds...opportunities to have up close experiences with different than traditional species of animals will be gone. I am using these as examples because it is most local to us and I know a lot of people have great experiences at these venues.

As far as the "animals being used for entertainment" aspect of things that includes 4-H animals, FFA, shows and rodeos.

If we remove opportunities for kids to exhibit their animals they've cared for; ending farms by removing the necessity of breeding cattle and horses, putting trainers out of business aa well.

These venues using animals as part of their attraction will be reduced to just food, beverages and music. We already have enough venues providing these things. The former rodeo grounds in the more rural areas will either become another dispensary, injection site or homeless encampment. Farms will be subjected to being sold and increase urbanization of our once rural farming communities.

The few livestock/exotic and equine veterinarians will be out of jobs. Feed stores will have lost their purpose and the few hay sources left will have no consumers.

Then there's the age old question of "what to do with the animals?" The rescues are over capacity already. Millions of animals will be euthanized unnecessarily. You can't just slaughter animals. To be used as animal or people food they must be vet inspected first.

It does not just directly effect the animals negatively if the entertainment industries are removed. It effects farmers, veterinarians, trainers, feed suppliers. Increases unemployment, poverty, homelessness, illegal dumping of waste and animals being abandoned.

Our already overcrowded schools will become more crowded if there is an increased population. Our already struggling food sources for low income will be even more strained.

The negative things that have been an increasing problem will only be perpetuated and worsened.

Please stop House Bill 2824 from becoming our reality!
