COVID-19 cases in London are rising, drawing attention from many, including the Middlesex-London Health Unit. There are multiple suspected Omicron cases among students. Students with symptoms are hesitant to get tested, as they do not want to postpone their exams. Students have to sit in exam halls with HUNDREDS of other students, while there are outbreaks in the student community. Having exams in person put thousands of students at risk and likely means that many students won’t be able to see family who are particularly vulnerable to COVID over the holidays. Students are risking the possibility of staying in London to quarantine during the Christmas break when they are put in an exam room with hundreds of students. With our break being extremely short already, it is important for students to have this time to see their families and return home safely. This petition is a call for Western University to move exams online and listen to students for once.
