SAY NO to Verizon CELL TOWER in Historic Capital Hill

Verizon and Western Telcom, Inc. are trying to install a 30 foot cell tower at the corner of E 12th Ave and Marion, in historic Capital Hill at 1235 E 12th Ave in front of the Dalton apartments (see pink stakes to right of photo for attempted installation location). The Dalton Apartments were originally built as luxury residences in 1926 and are one of many historic buildings owned by Denver locals in this densely populated Capital Hill neighborhood. This is just 1/10th of a mile from historic Cheeseman Park and the historic residences on Humboldt street. Western Telcom, Inc. attempted to start construction on Thursday, Oct 12th, 2017 without informing any property owners or residents in the neighborhood who would be impacted by potential health effects, decreased property values, noise, and the presence of an unnecessary eyesore in our historic neighborhood.
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE:
1. Health Concerns from RF radiation
o There is the growing evidence of damage to cells and tissues that can lead to cancer.
o The World Health Organization (WHO) named RF Radiation from cell phones /towers as class 2B, possible human carcinogen.
What RF really is, NON0IONIZED RADIATION, even low levels of RF damage cell tissue & DNA. (i.e. Eyes, testes, fertility, rapid aging, cancer, tumors & leukemia)
2. Reduction In Property Values, up to 20-38%.

The National Institute for Science, Law and Public Policy… “Neighborhood Cell Towers & Antennas—Do They Impact a Property’s Desirability?” Their survey initiated June 2, 2014, polled 1,000 respondents in the U.S. as of June 28, 2014.
The overwhelming majority of respondents 94% reported that cell towers and antennas in a neighborhood or on a building would impact interest in a property and the price they would be willing to pay for it.
79% said under no circumstances would they ever purchase or rent a property within a few blocks of a cell tower or antenna. Read more: http://electromagnetichealth.org/electromagnetic-health-blog/survey-property-desirability/
3. Lack Of Transparency.
· Lack of due process regarding the private use of public lands.
· Complete lack of discussion with affected communities.
4. A cell phone tower will diminish the quality and aesthetic of our historic neighborhood.
Cell towers cause other disruptions - not just radiation and potential health risks - but access to our neighborhood by contractors and noise for construction and maintenance, as well as decreased parking during construction and maintenance!!!
