Niki Green started this petition to Western Australian employees and

I am so strongly in beleif that if the minimum wage were to be lifted to a mere $15 per hour, for under 16 year olds so may issues would vanish in the blink of an eye. Here's why!

My first reason is, Me, my family and many others are struggling and need money .We are more then willing to work for the money. The issue is no matter how hard we work, we can never have enough because of the limited hours and minimum wages employees are obligated to follow. We are in need of simple things such as groceries and money for bills. The minimum wages are making these essential things impossible to get when we need them. My family won't steal because we are good people and do respect the law but many don't leading to my next point.

My second reason is, theft. If you could raise the minimum wage to $15 dollars for under 16 year olds there would defenitly be an automatic decline in theft as troubled and poor families could actually  be able to afford the essentials they need without having to steal. Theft is a big problem in my area causing small businesses to become unable to afford the cost of staying open because there products are constantly stolen. The theft in my area makes the public constantly fear their safety and there is also the constant fear of being broken into and robbed for jewellery, phone's and presious valuables. This could all be prevented so easily if we could just get a small pay rise to $15 per hour, if we work 8 hours a week that is $240 a fortnight per child from 14-16 potentially putting food on the table to help our families that are relying so heavily on Centrelink. Now your getting the bigger picture incase that was not enough to convince you here here is my last but definitely not least important argument.

My third reason is, it would improve our life style. After all, we are teens and we want to have fun and buy things just like anybody else. $240 a fortnight could be spent on some nice new clothes, shoes or a fun day out. Being poor usually means you don't get the basic pleasures the higher classes get to enjoy such as movies, eating out  at restaurants and shopping. We also do have things to buy like cars for instance you can get your Learners permit at the age of 16 but do you honestly think we can afford cars at the standard $4'800 per year? No of course not! This is rediculous how do you expect us to know how to drive properly and safely with out practice. You can't practice without a car can you and I know you're thinking why don't your parents let you use yours. In my neighbourhood parents are to busy attending appointments to arrange food parcels to get them and their families throughout the fortnight as Centrelink funding is constantly being cut but that's a seperate issue that i will bring up later.

I thoroughly believe if you raise the minimum wage to$15ph you are also raising the happiness of Australia and your people. Please sign this petition and get it heard ..share away
