Reinstate Middle School Science Bowl

Grover and Community middle schools have both participated in Science Bowl in the past with successful teams, and the program was widely supported, improving students' knowledge of science, encouraging their interest in it, and promoting teamwork and collaboration. Science Bowl was a unique program in allowing students to study all areas of science, including those not normally taught in middle school, and providing an exciting learning environment through fast-paced competition. Unlike other science and math clubs in the district, the competition is jeopardy-style and game oriented, which has motivated participation from students from non-STEM backgrounds as well. Recently the High School South Science Club attempted to restart the program, offering to cover any costs, provide all materials, and find a coach, but the district has refused to allow any middle school Science Bowl program, taking away a wonderful opportunity from many STEM-oriented children. All the South Science Club needs is administration approval of their choice of coach and they will be able to provide this great program to more students, so we would appreciate support from everyone in asking the district to reverse their previous decision to block the program.
