Timothy Hubbard started this petition to West Whiteland Board of Supervisors
We, the undersigned, do hereby urge the West Whiteland Township Board of Supervisors to DENY any zoning change(s) that would permit a Wawa Gas store or any gas station to be built at the site known as the “Old Entenmann’s Thrift store”/Laborers District Council Training property. (Property is adjacent to St Mary’s Chapel on Ship Road near Rte. 30).

We state or believe:
1) Currently gas stations in the township must front Rte. 30 or Rte. 100. A zoning change to allow a gas station on Ship Road (off of Rte. 30) does not serve the interest of West Whiteland Township.
2) That a Wawa at that location may be a detriment to the overall health, safety, and welfare of the township and its residents, and would certainly add traffic to a congested road.
3) That the traffic associated with a Wawa gas station development at this site would negatively impact the area with a particularly negative impact on residents whose homes, neighborhoods, school, and church are adjacent to the proposed Wawa. In addition, those who rely on Ship Road for daily driving would experience increased travel time.
4) That the township has not sufficiently studied (traffic studies) the traffic delays that a Wawa or another gas station would have at that location, nor has its effects been studied at nearby intersections such as Ship & Swedesford; Ship & Pullman; and Ship & King.
5) That the Ship Rd Couplet that was planned to help with traffic flow was planned before a Wawa or another gas station was under consideration and would not alleviate the added traffic of a Wawa.
6) Currently only half of the Ship Rd Couplet project has funding. The township has not studied the traffic effects if only half of the project is built.
7) That area property owners would suffer a loss in the use and enjoyment of their property due to the requested zoning change.
8) The business owners in the immediate area would suffer an impact to their property rights that would negatively affect them, their employees, their customers, and their businesses.
9) That a Wawa at this location would be a disservice to the historical nature of the Ship Inn and St. Mary’s Chapel.
10) That the zoning in place as it stands should be maintained for the good of the township.

Maintain the current zoning regulations as they are in place today.
