Ranked-Choice Voting in West Virginia

Ranked-Choice Voting in West Virginia
Why this petition matters

This petition is to change state election law in West Virginia to Ranked-Choice Voting, thereby replacing the choose-1 voting method. This change will even the playing field for more candidates outside the 2-party system when residents deem their choices to be poor. The process still only gives your vote to one candidate in the end when the winner gets over 50% of the vote but doesn’t pigeonhole the voter into thinking they’d be “wasting” a vote on what may be deemed as a candidate that’s unlikely to win. If your first choice fails to achieve a percentage of the vote higher than the 1st or 2nd highest then with ranked-choice, your first choice is removed and your second choice is tallied instead.
