Call for Del. Eric Porterfield's Resignation

This week in West Virginia, Delegate Eric Porterfield supported an amendment that would have prevented adding protected classes -- such as members of the LGBTQ community, who are not currently stipulated in state code -- when making changes to city regulations and requirements.  During his remarks in committee, Porterfield said the word 'f*ggot'. Doubling down on his hateful rhetoric, Porterfield called the Charleston Gazette-Mail where he continued to rage about the LGBTQ community.

“The LGBTQ is a modern day version of the Ku Klux Klan, without wearing hoods with their antics of hate,” Porterfield said in an interview Friday morning. He also called the gay community a “terrorist group” and said he is being “persecuted” by the gay community in retaliation for his remarks, including receiving threats on Facebook and voicemails.

As of now, there have been no punitive actions for Porterfield's comment or as much as a statement from Melody Potter, Chairwoman of the West Virginian Republican Party.

We demand Porterfield's resignation as he does NOT represent West Virginia or West Virginia values with his hateful ideology.
