Save Clapham & Patching Primary from closure

Save Clapham & Patching Primary from closure
Why this petition matters

We are concerned parents/ students, local residents and supporters of Clapham and Patching C of E Primary school..
On the last day of Summer term 2019, we received the news our lovely school was one of a few small schools in West Sussex under review to determine it's future. To say we were gutted to find out this could mean permanent closure come July 2020 is an understatement, as for many parents and students this amazing, nurturing school has been a lifeline. Being a small school, parents get to know each other and the children. The differences in a lot of the children in a short space of time is phenomenal. Although it is a mainstream school, there are many children with mild to moderate needs who have flourished in Clapham and Patching. They are given opportunities to learn through outdoor activities as well as in the classroom, and teachers/ teaching assistants have a brilliant way of connecting with students to get the best from them.
Housing in the area is increasing rapidly and local schools are oversubscribed, so to close Clapham and Patching makes no sense. As well as having to find school places for those without additional needs, they would have to find suitable places for various needs in other schools which most parents can tell you just aren't there.
Clapham and Patching is and has been an important part of the community for 200 years. The students and teachers not only make use of the school itself, they also utilize the village and love bringing joy to residents whilst keeping active and learning.
We cannot let our lovely school close and we really need your help to keep it in the community. Please sign and share far and wide, so we can give our children and future generations the chance to experience all the wonders Clapham and Patching C of E Primary has to offer.
