Styrofoam containers are made from styrene, a neurotoxin that the World Health Organization has labeled as a probable carcinogen. They are also a major source of pollution, since Styrofoam food containers are not biodegradable or recyclable. Over the course of hundreds of years, they break down into micro-plastics that poison our oceans, trash our communities, and continuously harm and even kill animals by displacing food supplies in their ecosystems.

Help West Springfield join the 39 other cities and towns in Massachusetts, including Westfield, South Hadley, Greenfield, Pittsfield, Amherst and Great Barrington, who have already approved regulations to end the use of Styrofoam food containers. Help yourself, help the environment, and help a dedicated group of West Springfield High School students by signing here to support a ban on single-use Styrofoam food containers. Together, we can reduce pollutants and toxins in our community.
