In November 2011 local Witney residents brought to West Oxfordshire District Council's attention a decrepancy which meant that women in the town of Witney were being unfairly discriminated against because of their gender.
For many years now, men in the town have been able make use of the public urinals completely free of charge where women have been forced by the local council to pay 10p to spend a penny.
We believe that this is unfairly disavantaging and discriminating women for being females. We believe that this is unacceptable.
We also highlight that public toilets in Chipping Norton (the same district) are free for both men and women. We also can't see how this is fair. The people of Witney, just like the people of Chipping Norton pay their council tax to the same council, and we believe it is unfair that a 'postcode lottery' around public loos exists in the district. Why should the people of Witney seemingly be subsidising Chipping Nortons public conveniences?
We strongly demand that West Oxfordshire District Council notice their obligation to treat men and women with equality by providing free public toilets for all, whether male, female, living in Witney or in Chipping Norton!
End the sexism now! Free to pee for all!
