The residential roads along Falside in Bathgate are atrocious for vehicles driving along at high speeds. Cars and vans have been seen speeding along at over 40mph! 

My son was knocked off his bike by a car in 2019, thankfully he was not badly hurt and more shaken up. There’s been a number of near misses since included a most recent incident when a bus had to emergency stop to prevent hitting a child. Which caused stress to not only the children involved but the driver, residents and bus passengers. 

What is it going to take for West Lothian Council to take action? Is it going to take a child being seriously injured or worse killed?

Us residents of Falside demand action before it is to late.

There is currently no speed restrictions in place including speed humps nor speed calming measures including use of signs to limit any vehicle speeding along our roads.

The roads are narrow and with parked cars all along one side it’s very difficult for drivers to see children crossing from a distance.

There’s a local shop which attracts resistants from not only Falside but Windyknowe and surrounding areas. Therefor the street becomes very busy with road users.

There’s a park with a small lane to and from with no signs to indicate that there could be small children around the area or crossings roads which in its self is seriously dangerous.

It’s a main school route to Windyknowe Primary school for Falside residents and also Plessey Road.

We ask that with the help of this petition, the local residents and Bathgate MP Martyn Day, we can force West Lothian Council to take action and prevent a serious injury and investigate with a matter of urgency.

The residents of Falside and surrounding areas demand that speed calming measures including speed humps and road signage in our area are installed.
