Samantha Faile started this petition to West Linn City Council

I'm starting this petition because my street is tiny, 10th Street, and I do not want any more cars or big delivery trucks on it. It is hard to walk my dog or ride my bike up or down the hill when cars are coming and I am by myself. It is scary. As it is right now it does not happen all the time but with this new road it will happen more. - Riley Cook, 5th grader Willamette Primary School

West Linn Public Works is planning on extending the existing portion of 4th Ave when the lot at 1310 9th St is improved thus making it a corner lot and creating the intersection of 4th and 9th street. The City of West Linn Public Works Department plans to "punch through" 4th Ave with a paved 20 ft wide "alley" from 9th St to 10th St.

The proposed road would connect two streets that are already not to code, only 15 ft wide on 10th, with no sidewalks and steep inclines posing safety concerns in a neighborhood with a high concentration of children. The proposed road would cost taxpayer money while not addressing any problem. The existing connection at the top of the hill, 5th Ave, is sufficient for local traffic. Additionally, the road construction would face topography constraints as well as storm water detention and erosion concerns. If the stated goal is connectivity, a footpath for pedestrians would better serve the neighborhood.
