Flexibility for scheduling ACC 407 at West Chester University of PA.
Why this petition matters
The ACC407 NFP Government Accounting class at West Chester University (WCUPA) is a mandatory class for Undergrad degree in accounting required by this school. Many other schools (Penn State, Bloomberg’s Univ, Rowan Univ) require this specialized course only for a Master/graduate degree.
In addition, only one professor teaches this class at West Chester. It is nearly impossible to see him during “open hours” because of a long line of students waiting to speak to him. Another line forms during the class registration because one has to complete this course in order to graduate ; there is only one section and no winter and/or summer semesters offerings.
This makes a situation where it is nearly impossible to graduate on time and increases a financial burden of already expensive college education.
WCUPA must consider :
1. Offer this class as an elective; as a choice among other 400 level classes
OR
2. Add additional professor to teach this class (additional section)
OR
3. Allow a similar course from a different institution (on-line or in-class) as an alternative option for the students to take
Any of these 3 options would allow students flexibility to pick the best schedule and graduate as planned.
