Lauren Chockley started this petition to West Central CUSD #235 School Board

In the current 2021-2022 Plan for Safe Return to In-person Instruction and Continuity of Services, parents are considered ‘nonessential visitors’ and are ‘discouraged from visiting schools’ during normal academic hours.

This policy does not allow parents to escort their children to school, participate in any daytime activities/programs, etc. This has prevented parents from walking their child to school on their first day, prevented parent participation in the Halloween parade, prevented parents from participating in Stem activities with their students due to issues having childcare for siblings before school, impacted parent/teacher relationships, and fostered a sense of distrust.

This is not a required policy due to Covid mitigation efforts. This petition is a show of parents/guardians that do not support this current policy and respectfully request the West Central School Board to allow parents access to the school buildings as before. Parents should be allowed to walk their children to lockers/class and participate in school activities/programs abiding by all other school policies as applicable. Please join me and sign this petition to show how many parents, students, and families are impacted and in opposition.

Thank You,
