Joel Kurth started this petition to West Bloomfield Board of Education

It's November 2, and the children of Sheiko Elementary School still don't have a complete library.

During a school remodel, a dispute with a contractor halted construction of shelves for the school's library. Now, two months after school started, library books sit in boxes and children don't have access to a lending library.

This is unacceptable. Children nurture their love of reading by browsing shelves and finding books that spark their interest, not just ones assigned by teachers.

We understand the issue with the contractor may take time to resolve. But this isn't a complicated problem to solve. Put up some temporary shelves. Display the books. We would volunteer our time to put up shelves if that is acceptable. Or allocate money to finish the job, because what's a school without a library?

We demand an immediate solution because nurturing young minds should be what West Bloomfield schools are about, not counting pennies.
